The municipality was created in 2012 by the merger of the communes of Ermsdorf and Medernach. It consists of the localities of Ermsdorf, Eppeldorf, Folkendange, Keiwelbach, Medernach, Stegen, and Savelborn, as well as about fifteen farms and individual houses. The municipality has a sports hall in Medernach and a football center with two newly renovated synthetic pitches at the 'Bloen Eck' site in Stegen. There is also a well-known café-restaurant of the same name. The Saint-Barthélemy church in the center of Stegen was declared a national monument in 2021. Stegen is only a 10-minute drive from the center of Ettelbruck. There you will find a multitude of restaurants, shops, and schools, as well as the Centre Hospitalier du Nord.
