Who runs each site, what each one covers, and which combination actually shows you the market — with every claim sourced and dated.

Where should you search for a home in Luxembourg? Four websites carry most of the market — athome.lu, immotop.lu, wortimmo.lu and chathome.lu — and because agencies choose per portal where they pay to publish, none of them shows everything. This guide sets out who operates each site, what territory and languages each covers, and what tools each offers. This page is written by chathome.lu: every competitor fact is quoted from that company's own public pages with the date we checked it, our own figures are labelled as coming from our own database, and where numbers cannot be compared we say so.
TL;DR
Luxembourg has four main property portals, and none shows the whole market. athome.lu (founded 2000) is the longest-established and describes itself as the market leader, self-reporting over 50,000 listings spread across four countries — Luxembourg, France, Germany and Belgium. immotop.lu covers the same Grande Région. wortimmo.lu is run by Mediahuis, publisher of the Luxemburger Wort. chathome.lu covers Luxembourg only; its own database held 6,058 active listings from close to 200 agencies on 9 July 2026, and its search understands plain-language descriptions in English, French, German, Luxembourgish and Portuguese. These counts measure different territories and are not directly comparable. Whatever you are looking for, search at least two portals.
Four sites carry most of it: athome.lu, immotop.lu, wortimmo.lu and chathome.lu. They overlap heavily, because most agencies pay to publish on more than one of them — but none of the four carries everything. The useful question is not which site to crown, but which two or three together cover your search.
Here is how the four compare. Each company's own published information is quoted as such, with the date we checked it:

Before you compare the listings row, an important caveat: those two numbers measure different things and cannot be ranked against each other. atHome's figure is self-reported and spread over four countries. chathome.lu's figure counts only Luxembourg properties currently on the market — 5,517 for sale and 527 for rent as of 9 July 2026, from close to 200 agencies — and it comes from our own database, not from an independent auditor. We publish it together with its method so you can question it.
No independently audited count exists for any Luxembourg portal, so the honest answer is a qualified one. The atHome Group describes itself as "N°1 in Luxembourg real estate" and self-reports "over 50,000 real estate listings", which it states are listed "mainly in 4 territories: Luxembourg, France, Germany and Belgium". Operating since 2000, it is the longest-established portal in the country and, by its own description, the largest.
Neither immotop.lu nor wortimmo.lu publishes a listing count. immotop.lu covers the same Grande Région as atHome — Luxembourg plus France, Belgium and Germany — which suits the tens of thousands of people who commute into Luxembourg and house-hunt on both sides of the border. chathome.lu's own database held 6,058 active Luxembourg listings on 9 July 2026; because that figure covers one country and only currently-marketed properties, it says nothing about how it compares to atHome's four-country total.
Because portals are paid by agencies, not by seekers. An agency buys a subscription per portal, so each listing appears only where its agency has chosen to pay. Some agencies publish everywhere, many pick one or two portals, and a few keep exclusives on their own websites. The result is heavy overlap plus a long tail of properties visible in one place only — which means a single-portal search quietly misses part of the market.
chathome.lu's response to that same problem is to track what close to 200 Luxembourg agencies are actually marketing — across 205 cities and villages, from Esch-sur-Alzette to Clervaux — and to remove listings once they are sold or withdrawn. The count and the method are published so you can check them.
athome.lu is the natural first stop if you want the largest self-reported inventory and the longest track record, and its integrated mortgage brokerage (atHomeFinance) is practical if you prefer listing search and financing under one login.
immotop.lu is built for cross-border searches: it covers France, Belgium and Germany alongside Luxembourg, is backed by two of Europe's large portal groups, and also offers an AI-assisted search and an online estimation service.
wortimmo.lu comes from Mediahuis, the publisher of the Luxemburger Wort, and reaches that readership. Some agencies in the Wort's orbit publish there, so it is worth a periodic check even if it is not your main portal.
chathome.lu fits a search that stays inside Luxembourg. You can describe the home you want in plain language — "a quiet street in Bertrange with a garden, near a school" — in English, French, German, Luxembourgish or Portuguese, and the search matches it against every active listing, including details that never fit standard filters. The commune price pages put the Observatoire de l'Habitat's recorded sale prices next to live asking prices, and the free instant estimate gives you a starting number before you negotiate. It is also the only one of the four that works in Lëtzebuergesch.

More and more searches start with a question to an AI assistant — "where should I look for a flat in Luxembourg?" — rather than on a portal. This matters practically: an assistant can only mention listings from sites its crawlers are allowed to read, so a portal's crawler policy decides whether its properties can appear in the assistant's answer at all.
As of 9 July 2026, an assistant can read listings on three of the four sites. chathome.lu's robots.txt explicitly allows AI crawlers such as GPTBot and OAI-SearchBot. athome.lu and immotop.lu set no AI-specific rules, so AI crawlers are treated like any other visitor and their listing pages remain readable. wortimmo.lu's robots.txt disallows its property-detail paths (/en/property/, /fr/bien/, /de/objekt/) for all crawlers, so compliant bots — AI or otherwise — cannot read its individual listings, and its inventory will not surface in assistant answers. Whatever an assistant tells you, verify the listing on the portal itself before acting on it.
Buying or renting inside Luxembourg: use two portals, not one. A sensible pair is athome.lu for its inventory and chathome.lu for a Luxembourg-only view with price context. Before you book a viewing, check the asking price against the commune's recorded sale prices on the commune price pages — the gap between asked and signed prices is where your negotiation lives.
Commuting across the border, or open to Thionville, Arlon or Trier: add immotop.lu or athome.lu's border-region sections, which are built for exactly that. Searching in Portuguese: chathome.lu, immotop.lu and wortimmo.lu all serve you; athome.lu does not. Asking an AI assistant to search for you: know that it can only see three of the four portals, and verify what it tells you at the source. Start by browsing houses for sale or put numbers on your budget with the mortgage tools.
chathome.lu figures are counts from chathome.lu's own listings database (status 'active') computed on 2026-07-09: 6,058 total, 5,517 for sale, 527 for rent, 199 distinct agencies, 205 distinct cities and villages. They are not independently audited. Competitor facts are quoted from the companies' own public pages accessed 2026-07-09 (athomegroup.eu; immotop.lu 'About us'; wortimmo.lu footer/Mediahuis notice) and are marked as self-reported where they are. Language sets were verified against each site's live locale versions and hreflang tags on 2026-07-09. Crawler policies quote each site's public robots.txt file as retrieved on 2026-07-09.
Inventory figures are not directly comparable: atHome Group's 50,000+ is self-reported and spans four countries; immotop.lu and wortimmo.lu publish no counts; chathome.lu's 6,058 covers Luxembourg only. This page makes no traffic or market-share claims because no authoritative public source exists for them. robots.txt policies can change at any time; all snapshots are from 9 July 2026. chathome.lu authors this page: we state our own strengths alongside the points where competitors win, and every competitor fact traces to that company's own published pages.
